  70. This package contains the MWGL - MEDLIN WINDOWS GENERAL LEDGER, by Jerry
  71. Medlin, MEDLIN ACCOUNTING SHAREWARE.  This document contains only a brief
  72. description of the package and its features, along with instructions for
  73. its installation.  Detailed documentation is included in the package in
  74. the form of a Windows Help file and a .WRI file.

  76. If you've ever wished you could easily handle your bookkeeping with a
  77. Windows program, WITHOUT SPENDING TIME READING A MANUAL, then MWGL -
  78. Medlin Windows General Ledger is the program for you!  This program is
  79. very quick and easy to use.

  81. MWGL - Medlin Windows General Ledger is a shareware program.  This
  82. evaluation version includes all features of the program.  You may use it
  83. for up to 30 days, without charge (see MWGL.HLP for more details).  If
  84. you like the program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation
  85. period, you are required to pay for the program. Any fee you may have
  86. paid to others (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation

  106. ===== Installation =====================================
  107.  
  108. The installation procedure for MWGL - MEDLIN WINDOWS GENERAL LEDGER is
  109. quite simple.  The disk package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which
  110. automates the entire process.  MWGL requires less than 1/4 megabyte of
  111. disk space.  The program requires no changes to any existing files on
  112. your hard disk.
  113.  
  114. The file VBRUN300.DLL must be in your Windows\System directory for MWGL
  115. to run.  It is not included in this .ZIP file to shorten your download
  116. time.  If you do not have a copy of VBRUN300.DLL, it should be available
  117. from the same source you downloaded MWGL.  VBRUN300.DLL is a "library"
  118. file that is shared by most windows programs.  You only need one copy, no
  119. matter how many of your programs use it.

  121. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  122.  
  123. To install from diskette, you need to perform the following steps.
  124.  
  125.    o  Place MWGL distribution diskette in the appropriate diskette drive.
  126.    Start Windows.
  127.  
  128.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program on the distribution diskette,
  129.    either by choosing File/Run from the Program Manager or by double
  130.    clicking on SETUP.EXE from the File Manager.
  131.  
  132.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program. The
  133.    program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy the
  134.    MWGL files to that directory.  If you so direct it, the installation
  135.    program will install executable programs and documentation in other
  136.    directories of your choice.  It will not modify your autoexec.bat or
  137.    config.sys files or any Windows files.

  141. INSTALLING FROM A ZIP FILE
  142.  
  143. If you downloaded MWGL from a BBS (or received it in the form of zipped
  144. files from some other source), perform the following steps.

  146.    o  Use the File Manager or drop to DOS to create a directory on your
  147.    hard drive. You may use any allowable directory name, but we recommend
  148.    MWACCT to be consistent with the setup program supplied with the
  149.    diskette version.  Change directory into the new directory.
  150.  
  151.    o  Run the unzip program by typing PKUNZIP MWGL12 from the DOS prompt
  152.    or from the File/Run section of Program Manager.

  154.    o  You may run the program directly from File Manager or create a
  155.    program group and a program item using File/New in Program Manager.
  156.    You must have a copy of VBRUN300.DLL in your Windows System directory
  157.    for the MWGL program to run.  Chances are you already do. If not, you
  158.    may download VBRUN300.DLL from any BBS.

  162. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the help file
  163. ("MWGL.HLP").  You may read the MWGL.HLP by double clicking it from the
  164. File Manager or by pressing F1 from inside MWGL or by choosing HELP from
  165. the MWGL menu bar.  The help file allows you to read the entire file
  166. sequentually by clicking the >> symbol.
